Terrain - The Dangerous Flora of the Badlands..

Picked these resin pieces up from eBay. No idea of the maker.

They're going to indicate hazardous terrain, the type that can get you killed.

Human Colonial - Getting started on the grunts

I've not had much time to paint my own stuff this week, but did manage to make a start on the Grunts for the Human Colonial army...
They're GZG NAC Troopers. There's a lot more than pictured, including some heavy weapon support.

Note to self : I must remember to get the rest of the Pendraken Aliens at Warfare on Sunday....

Mechanoid Army - Battle Mecha

Not content to just concentrate on the Xenos and Colonial armies, I've now started picking up bits for all the armies listed in the book. This is one of the prepainted AT-43 models. They're designed for 28mm gaming, but I think they'll pass as Battle Mecha in 15mm. All I did was to paint and flock the base.

Walker

Pick up 3 of these on ebay.
They're old Ral Partha Battletech Mechs.

Latest batch of Xenos completed

Latest batch of Xenos completed.....
Hopefully I'll be able to get some more of these guys at Warfare.

Xeno Update, Human Colonial Turrets and a random beast.

The latest batch of Xenos are ready for varnishing and basing. Will hopefully get them finished over the weekend.
In a 200pts Human Colonial army I need to have 2 Defence Turrets.... so I picked these up from eBay...

They're meant to be for 28mm, but I think they can get away with being used as 15mm. Resin body with metal gun barrels.

Also found this strange creature in my bits box. It's going to be one of the indigenous creatures in the Badlands. I've put him on the small FOW size base. Stil early days for him/her/it.

Xeno's Blacked up and Rules

I've bought/aquired quite a few sets of Sci-Fi rules over the last few months including Future War Commander, Alien Squad Leader, Hammer's Slammers The Cruicible, Tomorrow's War, Stargrunt, Dirtside etc. So far I've only given Future War Commander and Alien Squad Leader a good read through. FWC whilst a good set of rules wasn't really what I'm looking for. ASL seems to tick all the right boxes after a read through, so I think I'll base my armies around their army lists, mainly because they're more of a fun set of 'hollywood' style lists.
The Alien Squad Leader rules can be found here (http://www.15mm.co.uk/) .

For the Xenos I'll be using the Hive Mind list, which is really more for the 'Starship Trooper' style Bugs but will work fine. I'm going to build the armies to 200pts. which for the Xeno's will be...

16 x Warriors (The young Xenos) - fighters @5pts = 80pts
16 x Armoured Warriors (The Bigger Xenos) - beasts @6pts = 96pts
1 x Gigabeetle (The Queen) - Monstrous Creature @10pts = 10pts
3 x Spitting Bugs (Going to use the face huggers/eggs combo) shooter @5pts = 15pts

That's 201pts total.

The Xeno Reinforcements got blacked up today.
There's enough for 10 stands, so next show I'm going to have to get another 18 figures.

Xeno Terrain bits

Got some plastic terrain bits for use with the Xenos, originally something for the GW Tyranid army. They're going to be used as exit/entrance locations for the Xeno nest. Blacked them up and tested a few on sanded bases...

Xenomorph Reinforcements

To give the Xenomorph army a few more troop types I've picked up a pack of 10mm Aliens from Pendraken (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/) . They are going to represent younger warriors or workers. Also in the pack are some egg clusters and some face huggers. I'm probably going to use these as some very abstract shooting units.

'Aliens' / Starting out

For me it's the figure first then the rule set, so I've started out on my 15mm Sci-Fi project with making the figures look good (I hope). I've decided to use the 'Flames of War' style bases, mainly because I like the look of the rounded corners. These are Laser cut MDF ones from Warbases (http://www.warbases.co.uk/)

I already had these 'Alien' figures painted before starting this blog, so no before pics, sorry.
Here's a bunch of 15mm Khurasan Space Demons (http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/) based on Warbases FOW size bases
